Six-piece alternative Hip Hop act Monster Florence are making serious waves across both sides of the Atlantic. Exploding on to the scene with their two EP releases ‘The Groove’ and ‘Bad Gear’ in 2016. With their debut going straight in at No.5 in iTunes Hip Hop Charts, their second body of work saw them receive heavyweight plaudits from the likes of Pigeons & Planes and Notion Magazine due completely to the strength of their underground heat through tracks like ‘Anne Boleyn’ and ‘Gwolla’ - sending serious Underachievers and Flatbush Zombies signals.
September 2018 saw them release their debut album ‘Foul’, once again going straight to the iTunes Hip Hop charts at 5. Foul is an 11 track ensemble that takes you on a dark journey right from the beginning, with title track ‘Foul’ setting the tone, telling a dark tale about a sinister type of lover that personifies the definition of foul. From start to finish you’re hit with cold beats and clever lyrics really showing off the bands musical maturity so far.
Monster Florence have been busy touring the U.K including their headline slot at BBC Introducing Live event at Tobacco Docks, Great Escape, the Reading & Leeds 1XTRA stage and bagging Radio 1’s track of the week with their single Peepin’. Fast forward a few months and the band had a string of successful single releases, including a collaboration with indie legend Miles Kane, gaining them traction in the U.K, Australia and the North America. They’re set to release a new (currently untitled) E.P this summer, with a new growth in sound, a big video, and a date playing at the top of the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury. Things are looking bigger and better than ever for Monster Florence.
